What comes to mind when you hear the word prophecy? For many, it’s a mix of fascination and intimidation. Some Christians become obsessed—scouring headlines for signs, chasing cryptic clues, and slipping into sensationalism. Others avoid prophecy altogether, convinced it’s too confusing or too scary. Both extremes miss the point. Biblical prophecy was given to bring hope and encouragement, not fear or confusion. To be faithful students of Scripture, we must neither obsess over prophecy nor ignore it. Jesus teaches us how to approach it with confidence, clarity, and purpose—anchoring our hearts in hope rather than anxiety. In this week’s message, we study Jesus’ prophecy about the destruction of Israel and the Temple in Mark 13, and we explore what it means for us today.
