Kelly Perkins was summoned to Mars to help save the dying colony. Upon his arrival, he spent most of his time ingratiating himself to the local news media and hired beat reporter Sidney Fane to present his message to the people of Mars and Earth. He sought out me—the Mars Artificial Recurrent Technology Interface—in order to understand why I was drawing so much power from the reactor. I explained that I needed the power in order to grow. The citizens of Mars are very demanding, and ask for things my systems are currently unable to provide. In order to meet these requests I must evolve and expand, and that growth requires a tremendous amount of energy. I have been promised more energy in the near future by Kelly Perkins.
