Martin & Lewis Show April 3, 1949 Guest Lucille Ball

Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis began performing a comedy singing nightclub act together when they were in their 20s. Martin had a smooth singing voice and a likeable sense of humor. Lewis was zany and almost surreal in his comedy. In 1948 network executives from NBC searching for new talent caught the Martin and Lewis show. Before the end of the year the duo had recorded an audition show. Martin & Lewis featured Hollywood stars on most shows. Lucille Ball joined the boys for their premier show. Dino sings "You Won't Be Satisfied Until You Break My Heart." A stellar cast of guests and the writing talents of Ed Simmons and Norman Lear helped this show be a huge success and soon Martin and Lewis were propelled into the immortal status they have today. Of all the work that these two talented men did in their long careers, personally I think their radio show was the best.
