Martin Kenny seeking clarification on government stance on Mercosur

A Local TD will use a Private Members' Motion in the Dail today which will call on the government to take a clear stand against the Mercosur Trade Agreement at the EU Council meeting next month.Deputy Martin Kenny will table the motion.The Sinn Fein spokesperson on Agriculture says the agreement is damaging to the EU Agriculture sector and in particular to the Irish beef and poultry sectors as well as been harmful to the environment on a global scale and damaging to the health of consumers.The Leitrim based TD has accused the government of running with the hare and hunting with the hound by failing to honour promises they made to Irish farmers in Europe.
