Marty Funkhauser - Olav Basoski Tribute Mix

Alright, I'm so happy to get this mix out to you guys finally. I've had it in the back of my mind for a long time. I vividly recall buying my first Olav Basoski record In Vancouver at Otis Records in 1999. I had been dj'ing less than a couple months and it was a used copy of Samplitude 6. Hearing the tracks on that record completely changed my perception of what I thought house was, being a huge disco fan I fell in love with Olavs's production style and the way he used his samples. Long story short it was a game changer and a huge influence then and now on the style of music I play. Seeing him play back then at Frostee 4 and Magic Mountain are memories I'll never forget, if you were there you know. I hope I did his music justice on this mix, I mainly stuck with original productions from the Samplitude series and from his excellent label Rootz Records. For me it's the purest form and really the remixes could be a whole other mix on their own. Olav if you read this thanks so much for all you've done for house music, you should be super proud of everything you've accomplished, quite simply you were a game changer for myself and a lot of people.
