Martyr Gorazd of Prague: A Shepherd Who Laid Down His Life

Today we remember Martyr Gorazd of Prague, a bishop who faithfully served the Orthodox faithful in Bohemia and Moravia during a time of great trial. Born Matthias Pavlik, he left the Roman Catholic Church to embrace Orthodoxy and was consecrated bishop in 1921. He worked tirelessly to build up the Church and care for his people. During World War II, Bishop Gorazd showed great courage when Nazi forces discovered that resistance fighters were hiding in his cathedral. He took responsibility to protect his flock, ultimately giving his life in 1942. His sacrifice is honored as a witness to Christ’s love and care for His sheep.Support the show
