Mary Steinhauser

We are back after a short break to reformat the show. As we explain this episode, Ash will be your main historian/ host bringing you some of the lesser known stories of history while Kat reacts in real time alongside all our you lovely listeners. We are super excited to introduce everyone to Mary Steinhauser, a psychiatric nurse/ social worker who was the most compassionate woman that wanted to save everyone. We don't go into all the details of her life as we mainly focus on events that happened when she worked at the BC Pen in the 1970s so we do implore you to check out her sister's book Between Blade and Bullet which is linked right here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/57836913 Resources: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Columbia_Penitentiary https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-penitentiary-new-westminster-prison-historical-photos https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/bc-penitentiary-buildings-new-westminster https://evelazarus.com/bc-penitentiary/ http://archives.newwestcity.ca/Results.aspx?AC=SEE_ALSO&QF0=NameAccess&QI0==%22British%20Columbia%20Penitentiary%22&XC=/Results.aspx&BU=http%3A%2F%2Farchives.newwestcity.ca%2Fsearch.aspx&GI=&TN=internet&SN=AUTO2728&SE=372&RN=1&MR=100&TR=0&TX=1000&ES=0&XP=&RF=WebStartDate&EF=&DF=WebFull&RL=0&EL=0&DL=0&NP=255&ID=&MF=GENERICENGWPMSG.INI&DT=&ST=0&IR=3312&NR=0&NB=0&SV=0&SS=0&BG=&FG=&QS= https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Steinhauser#Legal_consequences https://web.archive.org/web/20160303213241/http://www.marysteinhauser.com/assets/guard_named.pdf https://www.ojp.gov/pdffiles1/Digitization/47300NCJRS.pdf Hosted on Acast.
