Masked Mob Attacks Police in Derry | Belfast News

Last night in Derry, a volatile scene unfolded as 40-50 masked youths, some armed, gathered near Knockwellan Park—police say it was a planned attack. When officers arrived, the crowd split but troublemakers hurled petrol bombs and blocked roads with debris, forcing a tense standoff until 10:30 PM. No injuries occurred, but police called it “disgraceful,” warning that adults are exploiting vulnerable teens and risking their futures. Superintendent McIldowney stressed accountability and urged witnesses to come forward, promising increased patrols to restore safety and respect in the community.
