Mason Sawyer & Sam Josie: Best friends through unimaginable loss of wife, son, daughter, brother & nephew in car accident & rare dwarfism condition share 10Ninety Rule, stoicism & more

from Beautiful Shifts · host Lindsay & Shantil

On July 25, 2021, Mason's family was involved in a fatal car accident that took the lives of his wife Kortni, son Riggins, daughter Franki, brother Race, and nephew Rider. Mason is now solely focused on raising his son, Blue, who survived the car accident, and his mission to help teach others the 10/90 Principle.    Sam has a rare form of Dwarfism called Ellis-Van-Crevled Syndrome that affects bone growth and development and causes various abnormalities. Sam stopped growing at age 17 and stands at 5'1. With over 17 surgeries on various bones in his body, Sam has had to learn to adapt to his situation, rise above the negativity, and find ways to succeed.    Mason and Sam have been friends since high school and join us today to share more about their stories and life transitions including starting their podcast The 10Ninety Rule, the concept of stoicism, and their mission to share lessons learned by using the 10/90 Principle - that life is 10 percent what happens to you and 90 percent what you make of it.    These two are amazing, great guys all around and listening to their stories you will laugh, cry, and do it all over again. Thank you so much, Mason and Sam, for coming on our podcast - we enjoyed every minute talking with you and are honored you shared your stories with us.    Find Mason and Sam and their podcast 10Ninety Rule on Instagram @10ninetyrule and on Apple Podcasts and Spotify.

Wherever Life Takes Us whereverlifetakesuss Join three best friend as they explore this beautiful world! Half Ties kwamenabrace Half-ties is a conversation series on the funny, beautiful and sometimes challenging moments that interracial couples experience being with somebody who’s culturally different from them.Hosted by creative couple Olivia & Kwamena, we listen to stories about growing up with racism and prejudice; falling in love and meeting the in-laws; navigating difficult conversations within the family and in society, and how these couples make their relationship work and what they actively choose to pass down to the next generation. C.S. Lewis's The Last Battle St. Philip's Church: Charleston, SC Come join us on Wednesday nights as we explore the riches of C.S. Lewis’s marvelous book The Last Battle, which is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia. It is a remarkable book on multiple levels and was awarded the Carnegie Medal back in the 1950s when it was first published. The Last Battle has some themes in common with The Great Divorce and That Hideous Strength that will make it an excellent follow-up to those two books, and like them, it has some remarkable resonance with things going on in today’s culture. It is a book that is both theologically rich and poignantly beautiful in its writing, and it can help equip us to live boldly for Christ in a culture that has lost its way. (Although this book is the last of The Chronicles of Narnia, it can stand on its own and it is not necessary to have read the other books for this class.)
