Welcome to the 17th of October 2023 show. A century ago this month, the building on Havemeyer Place that was constructed as a Masonic temple was dedicated. Ezekiel Lemondale (also known as Judge Frederick A. Hubbard) and his friend "Mr. Parker" went for a drive South of the Post Road (East Putnam Avenue), describing "a six-mile ride over a shady, rustic and historic road, and tells who lives along the way." We occasionally hear the term "road rage" used, thinking that such incidents are of recent nature. You'll hear about a "motoring incident" in 1911. That same year, a unique steam-powered car arrived in Greenwich that furnished power -and roasted peanuts. Bruce Shelter.We're two weeks away from Halloween.
