Masquerade
from JonnyRAW · host JonnyRAW
10 years ago I ferreted myself away in my room for two weeks with a basic keyboard, guitar, bass, multi-effects, and cheap recording software, and I flat out recorded all parts to a whopping 26 songs, all as audio tracks, crudely arranged over whatever beats my basic keyboard could churn out, and I called the result of this musical self-therapy “Panacea”. It was the first time I had played keyboards or recorded anything on a computer, I wrote half of it on the spot, and I also had a tendency to think layering lots of off-key, off-time voices together was a good idea, so it does not make for particularly easy, polished or fun listening, but it is reflective of who I was and what I was working through in my mind at the time. I lost all the original files in the great hard drive crash of 2011, dashing any hopes I had of reworking them into more palatable arrangements, and in many important ways I am a very different person to who I was all those years ago when I wrote these, but I have chosen 13 of what I think are the least shit songs and put them here for anyone who wants to rummage around in the mental wreckage of an (at the time) 28 year old male human whose whole universe had completely and spectacularly crashed down around him. Cheers for listening!
