Mass shooting investigation underway in Catawba County

One person is dead and 11 others were hurt in a mass shooting early Sunday morning near Hickory, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said.The deadly shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Authorities found 12 gunshot victims at 1125 Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View area of southwest Catawba County.  One person has died, while another remains in critical condition, officials said. The deceased victim was identified as Shawn Hood, 58. Hood's family has been notified of his death.
