Mathis Out, Elee In for Terps | Maryland Terrapins Football News

Maryland’s defense takes a major hit before the 2026-27 season as star edge rusher Zahir Mathis is sidelined for the entire year after a fall practice injury. His absence leaves a huge void, especially since he and Sidney Stewart combined for 13 sacks last season. But hope lies in five-star freshman Zion Elee, a local prodigy poised to step into the spotlight with his explosive athleticism. Coach Ted Monachino will rely on Elee while also pushing returning players Nashir Taylor and DD Holmes to elevate their game. The Terps face a tough challenge—but they’ve got young talent ready to rise. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
