Matt Evans

When the World Cup came to the USA, Matt was enraptured. A fan of Ipswich Town who grew up watching his local club Wrexham, his first book tells the tale of the tournament ‘that changed the game’. It was a World Cup where Matt’s beloved Roberto Baggio missed the deciding kick, where OJ Simpson’s arrest overshadowed the opening week and where Oleg Salenko scored five goals in a game. The events that led to the USA winning the right to host the tournament are a book in themselves, and Matt is a fine guide to events of 28 years ago(!)
