In Matthew 20, Jesus teaches and gives a living example of what true unreserved service to the Lord looks like out of a wholehearted love for Him that glorifies Him completely. How we count our service isn't how Jesus counts it. He sees our hearts and motives. The demands we place on God don't matter. It's not about position, title, or recognition. It's about sacrifice. We shouldn't serve Jesus because we want to receive or expect to receive rewards on earth or on heaven. We should serve Jesus, heart and soul, because we don't want to see a single soul die and end up going to hell for eternity. When we obey no matter what Jesus calls us to or when He calls us to it, pursue Him with all our guts, and trust Him wholeheartedly, He changes everything. When we yield to Jesus completely and obey him unreservedly, He changes everything. The cost of service is huge. Jesus gave His life in sacrificial service for our eternal freedom from sin. It's not about what is in it for us, it's about Jesus. It's about a real relationship with Jesus and wanting everyone around us to experience Jesus. It's about glorifying God by enjoying God in and through every last element of life on this earth. It's not about the crown, it's about the Cross.
