I’m realizing that when I’m in a spiritual funk, I often self-identify my spiritual problems, and construct my own self-built solutions. In this process, the primary voice is my own - not God’s. There’s a weird moment when I realize my main goal is to make myself feel better, not live in alignment with the voice of God. These self-constructed solutions always prove to be inadequate and frustrating. Jesus of Nazareth encounters some Pharisees, crowds, and disciples who feel the same way! He offers the terrifying (and beautiful) truth that our problem is much worse than we can imagine, but the solution and result is far better than we can imagine!
