Matthew 5:7 | Blessed Are The Merciful

Mercy is the sister of justice. When wrong is done, there are natural and legal consequences. Where justice hands out the fair (and good!) consequence - mercy sees the person, in the misery of that consequence- and intercedes. It is motivated by compassion to forgive the debt and remove the consequence. Mercy in God's Kingdom has a particular order. The parable of The Unforgiving Servant in Chapter 18 shows us that the merciful character of the King is what drives the story.
