Matthew Chapter 5

Matthew 5 begins the Sermon on the Mount, one of Jesus' greatest teachings on the principles of God's kingdom. Jesus opens with the Beatitudes, describing the character and blessings of those who follow Him. He teaches that His disciples are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, calling them to influence others through righteous living. Jesus explains that He came not to abolish the Law but to fulfill it, emphasizing true righteousness that comes from the heart rather than outward appearances. He addresses anger, reconciliation, lust, adultery, divorce, honesty, retaliation, and love for enemies, teaching that God's people are to reflect His perfect love, mercy, and holiness.
