Joey A. Perry, Sr. was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. He is the second oldest of six children. He was brought up in a non-Christian home. However, he does remember attending Vacation Bible School once or twice around the age of eleven or twelve. Also, he thinks he may have attended church on Easter one time.Joey was a junior in college at the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago when a classmate passed away suddenly. It was at this time his eyes were opened to his vulnerability and mortality. This motivated him to start going to church so he could get his life right with God. So, at the age of 21, Joey believed in Jesus Christ as his Savior and Lord, was baptized, and bought his very first Bible. He purposed in his heart to get a solid foundation in the Word of God. He committed to Sunday school attendance to learn more about the Bible. He began to grow in His walk with the Lord. The Lord led Joey in 1981 to accept a job offer in Austin, Texas. He later retired after 39 years of employment.Joey has taught the Word of God to adults and children in various ministries since 1982. He believes God has called him to promote the spiritual growth and maturity of Christians through teaching and writing.Joey is a Christian nonfiction author.
