Maundy Thursday
from Between Bread and Stone · host Stephen R. Brewer, PsyD
Maundy Thursday asks a hard question: what happens when authority takes the form of service instead of control? In John 13, Jesus does not answer fear, betrayal, or weakness with distance. He comes closer. He kneels. He washes feet. This episode reflects on the intimacy and difficulty of that moment, and on the kind of love that stays near even when the night is tightening around it. This reflection enters the upper room slowly, then leads into the watch of the evening, where the Church is asked not to solve the night too quickly, but to remain present within it.
