Today is a Maundy Thursday. We will be learning from the life and ministry of Jesus on this day. I have shared previous episodes about lessons from Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday. Feel free to check them out. For over 1,600 years, Christians worldwide have commemorated the final days of Jesus' life during Holy Week. Today, we observe Maundy Thursday, a day that derives its name from the Latin word "mandatum," meaning covenant. On this day, we remember the momentous occasion when Jesus shared his last meal with his disciples and established a new covenant. As we reflect on Jesus' final days, it becomes increasingly apparent that he intended to dismantle the existing religious order and usher in a new Kingdom. The religious establishment, threatened by his message, sought to eliminate him, and one of his own disciples, Judas, volunteered to betray him (Luke 22:4-6). On the first day of Passover, Judas carried out his treacherous act.
