Maximizing Cloud Infrastructure with Custom Solutions from SHI – CitC Episode 184

On this week’s Conversations in the Cloud, we are joined by Tim Henning, director of architecture and engineering at SHI. Tim talks about his role as the head of the SHI Customer Innovation Center, a facility where customers can test and evaluate the latest technology. The Innovative Center continues to grow and explore future technology disruptors that can benefit their customers. SHI will include Intel® Select Solutions in the Innovation Center. SHI recently began offering the Intel® Select Solution for VMware vSAN, a preconfigured solution that is performance optimized for high-capacity memory workloads. This solution is built on the 2nd generation Intel Xeon Scalable processor, utilizing Intel® Optane™ SSDs and Intel® Networking technology. Moving from traditional on-prem datacenter to private and hybrid cloud, it’s about getting the most money from your investment and best application performance. Intel Xeon Scalable processors help SHI build high performance solutions that are both on-prem and connecting to the cloud. Tim notes that vSAN is moving away from traditional storage architecture, bringing the technology into the new hyper converged world where servers and storage are all one device and is managed as such. This helps with ease of implementation and ease of management with the ability to expand for future growth.
