Proverbs 12, Proverbs Series A truthful life is about speaking truthfully and honestly. Why is lying such a problem? It is one of the characteristics of a heart condition that is both self-deceived and, as a result, communicates that deception to others. Jesus came to bear witness of the truth. Satan is the Father of lies. In the book of Revelation, we find that ‘all liars’ are found in the lake of fire. What is scary is that some people are deceived into believing a lie. The apostle Paul explains the reason for this as “they refuse to love the truth (cf. 2 Thess. 2:9-11).’ Lies, when exposed, destroy relationships, but truth has an enduring and, ultimately, a healing aspect to it.
