Trans murders in Texas -- Anna Eastman fights anti-trans legislation

We talk with local activist Diamond Stylz about the murder of Iris Santos. Santos, a 22-year-old Latina transgender woman killed in Houston, Texas, on April 23, 2021. Iris’ death is at least the 18th violent death of a transgender or gender non-conforming person in 2021. We discuss her life and the rise in trans murders in Texas.

Then we speak with Anna Eastman to discuss the raft of anti-transgender legislation engulfing the Texas legislature, and her perspective on it as the parent of a trans child and as a straight ally and advocate. Eastman has served in the Texas house of representatives and as a trustee on the Houston ISD School Board
