May 3, 2026 - 5th Sunday of Easter

In this week's homily, Fr. Rob reflects on the question he's asked most often: "Where are you from?" Despite not having lived in Shelby Township since age 17, it remains the place that appears in his dreams—the home where he was formed. But Fr. Rob shares a transformative memory from his freshman year of college, driving home for Christmas break to his parents' new house in Caseville. Lamenting that it wouldn't feel like "home," he was proven wrong the moment he walked through the door—greeted by his mom's familiar hug, his dad's predictable questions about car maintenance, and the mouth-watering smell of a late dinner made just for him. In that moment, he realized home has nothing to do with a building or location. Fr. Rob connects this powerful experience to Jesus' promise in the Gospel that He goes to prepare a place for us and that we know the way. While speculation about the afterlife abounds, Scripture offers us a beautiful hint: the place prepared for each of us will be utterly familiar, filled with perfect love, and we will absolutely know we are home.
