May 4, 2025: Broken Bread - Michael Hidalgo

When the two travelers reach their destination, they invite this stranger to enjoy a meal with them and stay the night. Apparently, he was not interested at first, because they had to urge him to stay. They prevail and he agrees and they find themselves around a table. In an unexpected move, the stranger takes the place of the host. He takes the bread, gives thanks, breaks it and gives it to them. Suddenly their eyes, which had been closed, are opened and they recognize him just before he disappears from their sight. What is it about the bread that points to the identity of Jesus? What does this sacred meal we participate in reveal about the Christ? This is what we will explore together.
