Mayo Clinic Caring Hands Volunteer Program

from Gustavus Health Professions Podcast · host Heather Banks

Today in episode 35, we speak with Linda McDonald, Volunteer Service Coordinator at the Mayo Clinic in Mankato.  After a three year pause due to COVID,  we are very excited to announce that our volunteer program Caring Hands is back.  This program is a partnership with Gustavus and the Mayo Clinic where are Gustavus pre-health student volunteers provide are trained to provide a hand massage to patients, caregivers and/or family members.  The primary role of the Caring Hands volunteer is to improve the patient experience.  Our student volunteers participating in the past found the Caring Hands program to be very rewarding specifically because of the patient interaction they were able to have during each shift.  We are recruiting for this year’s volunteers.  Listen to the podcast to learn more about this unique volunteer program.
