Mayor Deegan Holds Veto Power Again | Jacksonville News

Mayor Deegan strikes again—her veto holds firm as City Council falls short in its bid to wrestle appointment power from her for key boards like the Kids Hope Alliance and Jacksonville Public Library. With only 11 of 19 council members voting to override, the mayor’s influence remains unchallenged, echoing her earlier veto win on immigration-related nonprofit oversight. While council members argued for greater control to improve budgeting and accountability, others questioned public support for the change. Deegan’s victory underscores her continued dominance in shaping city appointments, even as council pushes back. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
