Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard (2008-2016) joins the Stars & Stripes Cricket Podcast presented by DreamCricket to talk about growing up in sports rich Indianapolis, his time in the Marines prior to becoming Mayor, his experiences with cricket and his support to get the Indianapolis World Sports Park completed with a state of the art turf wicket field as part of the multi-million-dollar complex in spite of opposition from local politicians. He also goes into the challenges he experienced trying to work with USACA in 2014, which ultimately led to the termination of a three-year agreement to host the USACA T20 National Championships in the city from 2014-2016 before the ICC Americas awarded the hosting of the 2015 ICC Americas Division One T20 Championship to the city, paving the way for it to become the site of the inaugural ICC Americas Combines later that year. Mayor Ballard also addresses the lack of cricket at the facility since his time as Mayor ended.
