Ryan speaks with Warwick Quinn, CEO of BCITO, about the importance of industry training during COVID-19. They talk in-depth about the building industry during a recession and what needs to happen for it to bounce back quicker than in previous tough times. They discuss the importance of keeping in contact with apprentices during lockdown and the impact COVID-19 will have on residential construction in the long run. Warwick also gives a recap and update on RoVE (Reform of Vocational Education) and how focusing on the delivery will support recovery.Warwick joined BCITO in 2016. He is a former chief executive of Motor Trade Association and Registered Master Builders Association. He has also held the positions of General Manager Regulatory in Land Information New Zealand and the statutory positions of Valuer-General and Chief Crown Property Officer. He has also worked in local authorities, multi-national property companies and banks. A registered valuer by profession, Warwick is a past Chair of the Valuers Registration Board and a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Valuers and the Property Institute of NZ.
