MC #160: Octubre w/ co-director Daniel Vega

This weekend sees the New York City release of Octubre, a Peruvian film that won a Jury Prize as last year's Cannes film festival. The film follows Clemente, an emotionally stunted and socially isolated moneylender who one night finds a newborn baby - his illegitimate son - left in his home. Could this be his chance for redemption and meaningful human relationships? In this episode, Andrew calls up the co-director of the film, Daniel Vega, to talk about the cultural significance of the month of October in Peru, the process of directing a lead actor to be an emotional blank slate, and developing a visual style that contributes to a film's mood, among other things.
