With an eclectic background, academic, poet and now fabric artist in felting, Margaret Anne Smith joins me on today’s meander. She’s spent more than 25 years as a university professor and now she’s shifting – to spend time exploring fabric art (in wool) and further develop her artistic eye. Saying "no" to teaching means saying "yes" to art. As usual when I meander, we talk about life and the necessity of reclaiming our collective imagination. Like our meander earlier this month with Julie Lavergne, Margaret Anne is taking this year to slow down, listen to the birds, and make space in her life for, well, more space to create. Maybe more art, maybe new poetry, she’s not sure what the year will bring, only that after two years of covid, she needs some renewal. We also talk about leadership and quiet quitting, and what balance in life could look like if we had a different set of expectations around work-life balance.
