Mecna - 31/07
from Sound Waves Hosted by Jaxon Olumide
Mecna’s track "31/07" taps into that bittersweet feeling when summer just isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Set against a haunting sample from Aphex Twin’s "Avril 14th," the song captures the loneliness and melancholy of watching everyone else pack up for holidays while you’re stuck reflecting on life from the office. With lines like "I wish it would rain forever" and moments of dry humour—like slowly eating a boring pesto pasta—it’s a moody, introspective piece that’s as relatable as it is personal. Mecna’s intimate delivery and reflective lyrics make "31/07" a standout in his trilogy marking the end of summer, blending everyday mundanity with emotional depth.
