Frank Netter came from humble beginnings as a merchant’s son but had early artistic leanings. He attended medical school at the urging of his mother and subsequently had a surgery practice. His first illustrations for pharmaceutical companies were very popular, and his subsequent work influenced so many and secured his legacy as a great medical teacher.
