San Ambrosio, obispo de Milán y gran teólogo del siglo cuarto, convirtió a san Agustín y lo bautizó. Escribió un comentario sobre el salmo 118. En uno de sus apartes dice: Dice Jesús: “Yo y el Padre vendremos a fijar en quien ama nuestra morada. Que cuando venga encuentre tu puerta abierta”, y continúa: “ábrele tu alma, extiende el interior de tu mente para que pueda contemplar en ella riquezas de rectitud, tesoros de paz, suavidad de gracia”. Son palabras llenas de dulzura. Y sigue: “Dilata tu corazón, sal al encuentro del sol de la luz eterna que ilumina a todo hombre”. Yo anhelo que esta luz verdadera brille siempre en mí, por lo cual acepto esta maravillosa invitación, apropiándome lo que dice el evangelista Juan: “Dios es luz y en él no hay tiniebla alguna” (1 Juan, 1,5).
