The “Chakras” literally means wheels in the ancient language “Sanskrit”. According to the ancient wisdom there are 114 Chakras- the wheels of energy centers, located throughout our subtle-energetic body, among those, the seven major Chakras- are located within our subtle energetic body, from the crown of our head to the base of our spine. First chakra is called “Muladhara or root -chakra,” - acts as the root of the body and is located at the base of the spine. “Muladhara” means root, and is associated with the element earth, and sense of smell. Its associated color is red, hence its links to the earth. Its linked with our ability to dig in and feel firmly rooted in our life. This wheel of energy is associated with our sense of security, fearlessness, right to exist, familial relationships and our feeling of belonging. When energy is freely flowing through the first chakra, we feel firmly grounded, supported, connected with ourself, with the universe and the world around us.
