He's allergic to everything wheat soy dairy pineapples strawberries gluten cantaloupes Nuts epipins the whole nine right and it's it's been really tough for our family because as a kid It's tough to be allergic to all the most things because Your kids never had chicken nuggets right like your kid goes and plays Goes and plays soccer and they have they have a pizza party right and your kid can eat pizza with the rest of the kids Like birthday parties and your kid can't have any of the birthday cake It's just tough right so we've been going through that for like the past five years and it's been tough He gets his own food unique foods. I cook gluten-free stuff.
He eats pizza with just cauliflower crust all of these great things so last week he went to the allergist again and His gluten allergy came back zero. He's no longer allergic to gluten. He's no longer allergic to soy He can eat pineapples. He can eat watermelons.
He starts a little bit over there reality, but not nothing crazy He's still morbidly allergic to nuts right but we'll take it But just being a parent and just being an adult the fact that at five years old Your child tries Strawberries for the first time. It's just like mind blowing. I get emotional just thinking about it I was in the barbershop chair. I was telling him like oh my kid's gonna try strawberry today And like I gotta choke up like just being in the barber chair because I'm just like so happy for him I'm so happy for us and it's just a new world that's opening up for him and it's we're super emotional about it I don't have any lessons learned about it.
I just wanted to share like it's just It's great. It's great. I feel really really great about it. I sleep better.
My heart is full knowing that he's gonna be happier Um with his food choices in the future. So I just want to share that with all the respect all due respect He's last two weeks. It's kind of been a little bit of an emotional rollercoaster Mom called and let me know that she had went to the cardiologists And I did some scans because she was kind of tired when she walks, you know, my mom's you know Pretty good health like she still goes to work, you know, she's still you know She's Modernly good health or whatever. So anyway, did you tell me dad and say that she They were talking about she might have to get a stand in her heart or whatever.
So A lot of shit a lot of motions came over me, right? So I thought about like, you know again, uh, Finistan is a pretty routine um Procedure, but I also have a homeboy who I just so happened to be at home. His mother was having a surgery on her heart. It was kind of supposed to be routine.
I think it was a little bit more More serious than a stint, but she ended up passing on the um An operating room, right? I mean, we just happened to be in town and it was just you know, just just crazy So that went through my mind, right? And just a lot of emotions just thinking about like losing losing my only parents and I have left um, you just kind of just Just in that moment. I kind of could empathize with people who don't have their parents, right?
for some for some reason, right that that um When she said that I thought about me not having kids, right? And then I thought about like I'm always kind of on the fence if I want if I don't want whatever if it happens, whatever that's kind of how we were back in the day But I was like damn I don't even know if I would even want to bring a child in the world and my mom not be here, right? And I kind of I've heard women talk about not getting married if Excuse me if their father couldn't walk them down the aisle, right? So I kind of thought about a whole bunch of that, right?
So I ended up going in Nashville She could have the procedure done then, but you know, they did kind of like half of it You know, I talked to some of my homeboys who had nurses shut out to Rallo and you know kind of told me, you know, it's kind of You don't really have to worry people do it all the time. It's like a really easy procedure or whatever But um, I'm just saying I have to tell everybody that you know love your loved ones while they're here I know I kind of repeat that every quarter, but here's another reminder for y'all. So then um Come back in New Orleans and I get a phone call that uh my grandmother passed So grandma passed my day. Um, she was She had to be 90 at this point.
Um, she'd been in she'd been suffering from dementia So she's been in a home for like the last uh couple years for years. Um, so she's in a better place now But again, that was my last grandparent. So just you know, just experiencing loss and we're at this age where it happens, right? You know, she just happens.
Oh, and you kind of just have to you know, roll with the punches Um, but with all that said my um cousin my first cousin my father's uh sister's child was went to the Cemetery with my father's beard to look for a plot for my grandmother to pick out a plot And then she noticed that the hands don't went there So some of y'all that listened to the podcast remember that it's the same cemetery that basically didn't know what my daddy was I was joking sick that they lost him, but my mom always knew where he was but they did Um So my mom called up there and then they were like, oh, yeah, you know, then having issues with the machinery We haven't had a chance to move it now. This is like three months ago. Um And oh, yeah, I also want to let you know that we had buried a lady next to my dad that now they have to dig up and move right so of course, um My mom's talking about sweet. So she's sweet Uh, and it was like, yeah, just give me like two weeks and you know, I have everything, you know, handled blah blah blah So of course my sister gives me a call, uh, let's me know what's going on And I and I called him in and I could tell by the first five minutes that he's a motherfucker bullshiller.
I said, hey, uh, this is Seminary, you know, we've had issues before with you And I've been able to find my father and now the handstone's not there and apparently y'all buried somebody next to my father and my mother's flat I said it's a sound familiar. This makes him tell me Uh, kind of yeah, kind of sounds familiar. So either y'all fucking up that much on a regular nigga or you bullshitting me right? I think it's the latter.
So just talking to this motherfucker. He's like, um Mike, so how do y'all how do y'all bury somebody in the wrong spot type shit? Oh, well, you know, uh Shit just be happy just be happy. There's like the person in the office put down the wrong thing.
Like, all right So what's up with the headstone? Oh, well, you know, the the fucking uh machine has been broken for three months, man I said you have fucking cemetery. I said all you do is bury people that move head stones like like And and I and he says something a little slick and I'm like, okay, just make a plan in my face now So I told him like I'll be there next week like I need I need motion on it So then I think I try to get his shit together because I think I told I think he said he has a september person outside I would that's in 10 days and then he want to get a piece of man to expand Well, that's not actually 10 days.
