Meet Me In the Middle || Episode 2: Real Conversations about Depression & Anxiety

from Meet Me in the Middle Podcast · host Lindsay Pollard & Joy Waters Martin

It may not be the easiest or happiest subject to talk about, but depression and its ugly friend, anxiety, are all too real for so many of us. Unfortunately, the stigma and embarrassment encircling the topic often still remains and causes many to feel isolated and alone in their struggle. However, talking about it can release some of the power it has over us so in this episode, we welcome back Shaquila Willie to have real conversations about her own journey--as well as our own-- through the middle of this dark place we call depression and anxiety. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - 1 in 5 US adults experience mental illness each year - 1 in 25 U.S. adults experience serious mental illness each year - 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6-17 experience mental health disorder each year - Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-34 In our episode, 3 out of 3 of us have suffered. Friends, that's real and personal. Join the conversation as we share our stories of hope in the middle of this mess we call depression and anxiety. If you or someone you love need help, please call the NAMI helpline @ 800-950-6264 or visit their website @ https://nami.org/ to learn more. Original Air Date: November 17, 2019
