More than 45 years ago, the Reverends Deirdra Kearney and Luisa Porrata met as young nurses in New York City. They began dating and have been together ever since, marrying in 2011. Porrata now works as a wedding officiant, specializing in bilingual Spanish and English weddings. Together, Porrata and Kearney provide counseling and spiritual guidance for soon-to-be-married couples. In this piece, we hear Porrata and Kearney’s perspectives on love, marriage and the changing climate for LGBT people.
