Meet Pera Davies

Pera identifies strongly with his Māori heritage, being raised by his very loving grandmother in Bridge Pa, Hastings. Pera grew up in a shearing whanau raised on strong values around manaakitanga, and caring for the well-being of the collective.

In 1985 Pera started suffering severe lower back pain from shearing and after a few years of doctors and physios, he originated the Shear Jitsu to help with serious back injuries he was suffering as a shearer. Convinced he could help shearers who suffer back injuries and pain, Pera approached Australian Wool Innovations the biggest wool harvesting industry in the world with a plan to improve the health, wellness, and longevity of their workers. This led to the development of the SFC Roller recovery tool.
As a consultant for Australian Wool Innovation Pera delivered Shear Jitsu back injury prevention workshops throughout Australia.
