Episode Description
So, 2 nights in Nelson, town is buzzing but I feel like – for the first time in my life – I’m an early adopter!
It’s like tourism is just starting but the businesses are being overwhelmed. We waited an hour for our dinner last night and a guy from the restaurant next door came in to help serve. They had no idea where everyone was coming from. Our hotel breakfast took half an hour to be cooked as they only have 1 chef.
The Saturday market was buzzing. I bought 3 pairs of earrings!
We’ve had some wonderful food and did some wine tasting. Toured the botanic gardens.
Nelson is super cute. No empty shops like some small towns. Decorated in hanging baskets and long summer days.
Our next 2 nights will be in Abel Tasman National Park, but one of the lodges we were due to stay at had to suddenly cut their season short and close as 3 of their 6 staff have Covid, so we’ve scrambled to find somewhere else to stay
Expect to wait for meals, expect the unexpected, have patience, splash some money into local businesses.
