Don­ald Trump has said he would con­sider let­ting Nvidia sell a more advanced AI chip to China, after he “nego­ti­ated a little deal” to give Wash­ing­ton a share of the chip­maker’s Chinese rev­en­ues.The unpre­ced­en­ted agree­ment that Trump struck with Nvidia’s chief exec­ut­ive Jensen Huang, first revealed by the Fin­an­cial Times, involved the US tak­ing 15 per cent of Chinese sales of its H20 pro­cessor. The H20 is based on Nvidia’s older Hop­per archi­tec­ture but Trump yes­ter­day said he planned to dis­cuss a new deal with Huang to let Nvidia sell chips to China based on its latest Black­well plat­form, which US offi­cials had deemed too power­ful to sell to Beijing.A deal could unlock bil­lions of dol­lars in sales for Nvidia after years of lob­by­ing for access to the Chinese mar­ket des­pite US national secur­ity con­cerns.
