India trade deal to deliver exports liftPrime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today sign a trade deal between the two countries which London believes will boost British exports to India by 60 per cent by 2040.The agreement, announced in May, means that tariffs on more than 90 per cent of UK exports to India will be cut, with the largest reductions on cosmetics, clothes and food and drink — albeit phased in over a decade. Ministers said the deal was expected to eventually benefit the UK economy by £4.8bn a year.India’s Modi is also expected to visit King Charles and meet Indian and UK business leaders during his fourth visit to the country since becoming prime minister in 2014.Starmer will separately highlight £6bn of “new investment and export wins” between the two countries, although most of this figure is made up of previously announced Airbus sales to national carrier Air India.1. boost词性:动词 / 名词意思:动词:提升、促进、增加名词:推动、增强、促进的举措常用场景:经济增长、士气提升、销量提高等例句:The government plans to boost spending on infrastructure.政府计划增加基础设施支出。The new product gave a significant boost to the company’s revenue.新产品显著提升了公司的收入。2. albeit词性:连词(相当于 although,但语气更弱,常用于书面语)意思:尽管,虽然(后面接让步的短语)结构:albeit + 形容词 / 副词 / 短语,不接完整句子例句:The plan was successful, albeit expensive.这个计划虽然代价高昂,但很成功。He accepted the job, albeit with some hesitation.他接受了这份工作,虽然有些犹豫。
