英國倫敦大學（University College London）分析美國全國婦女健康研究（Studyof Women's Health Across the Nation，SWAN），針對近3千名女性進行10年追蹤調查。結果發現，每週至少有1次親密行為的人，比起同年齡、每月不到1次親密行為的女性，進入更年期的機率足足少了28％，也就表示，性生活頻繁的女性，進入更年期的時間比較晚，親密行為不只是性愛，其他包括口交、自慰和愛撫都包含在內。
