Meka Whaitiri: Walking where they did puts it into perspective

It's back to Gallipoli for many New Zealanders this morning. The reopening of our borders means people can once again travel to attend Anzac services in Turkey – after two years of pandemic absences. Veterans Minister Meka Whaitiri will represent New Zealand, with a contingent of Defence personnel.  Whaitiri told Tim Dower they've been there for a few days and walked the trail up to Chunuk Bair. “It’s not till you’ve actually walked the whenua, the land, and the various points that you then realise they were really up against it when they landed.” LISTEN ABOVESee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
