Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness: "prolonged grief syndrome"

Following narcissistic abuse, it is common for the discarded partner to feel in a Normas sense of loss and despair. The complete annihilation of their identity, the abrupt re-entry into reality from the shared psychotic fantasy, the Nuro chemical dysregulation in the brain, the cognitive dissonance and shock that the abruptness and cruelty of the discard… All of these things compound recovery and make it a difficult and challenging experience. The enormous loss can cause despair and grief that is difficult to overcome. Today’s topic is prolonged grief syndrome which is a new diagnosis in the fifth edition of the diagnostic manual.
