Melbourne Royal Show cancels poultry competition amid bird flu outbreak

The Melbourne Royal Show has cancelled its poultry competition due to the bird flu outbreak, despite no cases being detected in Australian poultry farms. Victoria has recorded 60 cases of the deadly disease, prompting organisers to make the precautionary decision in consultation with Agriculture Victoria and the Chief Veterinary Officer. The show, which has run for over 178 years with poultry competitions featured for more than 150 years, will continue with over 5,000 other animals and new interactive activities planned for the space.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
