MELODYE PHILLIPS - Birth Trauma, Postpartum Depression & Realizing You’re Not a Bad Mom
from I AM ONE Podcast by Postpartum Support International
Send us Fan MailOn today's episode, we're sitting down with Melodye Phillips, a perinatal mental health certified licensed professional counselor supervisor and certified eating disorder specialist who owns and operates her own practice in East Texas. Melodye specializes in working with mothers through pregnancy, postpartum, loss, complicated pregnancies, birth trauma, and disordered eating. And she brings something to this work that goes beyond her credentials. She's a perinatal mental health disorder survivor, she's a loss mama, she has three kids of her own. Her experience in this field isn't just professional. It's personal, and it shows in the way that she talks about this work. We'll talk about it all today, what it means to hold space for mothers in some of their hardest moments, and what it looks like when the person doing the work has lived some of those moments herself. Oh, and let's just say that delivering a baby can take some unexpected turns. There was an incident involving a squirrel, a transformer, and electricity at the hospital. We don't want to spoil it. We'll let Melodye do the honors. So without any further ado, please sit back, relax, and enjoy this episode with our friend Melodye.Mentioned on today's episode:Perinatal Eating Disorder Support GroupLearn about The ClimbLearn more about HELLP SyndromePodcast: MomwellReading: The Red Rising SeriesMusic: Noah Kahan's The Great DivideConnect with Melodye: Maternal Mental Health of East TexasInterested in sharing your story?Fill out our podcast interest form here!
