Menehune

Hawaiian oral history has it that many centuries ago, a mischievous group of small people lived hidden in the forests and valleys of the islands even before the first settlers arrived from Polynesia. These people, who roamed the deep forests at night, are said to be only two feet tall, though some were as tiny as six inches, small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. They enjoyed dancing, singing, and archery; their favorite foods were bananas and fish.According to local lore, they are smart, extremely strong, and excellent craftsmen. Human eyes rarely see them, and they are credited with mighty feats of engineering and overnight construction. Even today, there are reports of sightings within the forests of Hawaii.Listen with Gary & GoldieAnn as they are joined by our daughter, Ariel, who lives in Hawaii, as they discover the legends of the Menehune.Within The Mist Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/WithinTheMistPodcastMenehune Mystery: The Original Tales and Origins of the Myth by Jan Tenbruggencate: https://www.amazon.com/Menehune-Mystery-Original-Tales-Origins/dp/1949307050Tales of the Menehune by Mary K Pukui and Caroline Curtis: https://www.amazon.com/Menehune-Mystery-Original-Tales-Origins/dp/1949307050"Fear" by David Desliyan: https://www.fesliyanstudios.com/royalty-free-music/download/fear/351Facebook Fan Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/544933724571696Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/withinthemistpodcast/Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/@withinthemistpodcast1977 Hosted on Acast.
