Born in a tavern, John Earnhardt was delivered by apraying Adventist nurse. Growing up during the earlydays of NASCAR, he spent much of his childhood playingaround a racetrack with his cousin Dale, who had blueeyes and brown hair just like him, leading many people tobelieve they were brothers. Both families were involvedin bootlegging and racing, but their destinies would takedifferent paths.
